    XML Parsing Error

    Hi,

first of all, thanks for this amazing tool.  I started using it recently and have created and published a few RSS robots - and they work great for the most part except when I get an apparently random XML parsing error like this:

XML Parsing Error: no element found
    Location: http://service.openkapow.com/manuel/chiapasdiariodelsur.rss
    Line Number 1, Column 1:

So, sometimes my reader gets the RSS feed correctly, and sometimes it gets the error message.  Could you please explain to me what's going on?

thanks in advance for your help!

    Re: XML Parsing Error

This is somewhat strange.  I have published your robot as well under my user name to see I can replicate the problem.

In the meantime, please try a simple republish.

    Re: XML Parsing Error

I'm getting exactly the same error message...

It doesn't matter how many times I publish the feed, within a few hours I get the same error message...

    Re: XML Parsing Error

I noticed your removed the user path from the path to your robot.  Delete the robot through the openkapow website and republish with the default path to see if that works.  I just downloaded your robot and published with my default path and it worked.

    Re: XML Parsing Error

I have the same problem. I publish an rss feed from the RoboMaker, and while it usually works well, sometimes on its own, it shows the error message: XML Parsing Error: no element found. Does anyone know why is this happening? My robot is here: http://service.openkapow.com/mariaz/epractice.rss

I have no idea why it does this. I am using the rss feed to parse its data  and write it to a database.

Thank you a lot in advance!

    Re: XML Parsing Error

I have the same problem here, but isn´t there going to be some kind of update on the server software, which indicates that it´s not our fault.

Or is this a problem with the robots that we´re creating?

    Re: XML Parsing Error

It isn't a problem with the robots you are creating.  There is server software update coming hopefully next week.  I will post an alert so that we can see if it addressed.

    Re: XML Parsing Error

On this issue, what are you using to display your RSS feeds?  For instance, if I try to access http://service.openkapow.com/dng050/seherbildegalleri.rss i get basically a blank RSS page in IE 7.  If I use the same URL in firefox, it works fine.

    Re: XML Parsing Error

When the feed is succesfully generated from Openkapow´s server, both Firefox and IE 7 displays the feeds very fine on my computer.  But when there´s an issue, then I get a message telling me that it´s missing some element and cannot display the xml file.

Yes, I hope you could post a message alerting the update, because this unstability is very annoying. The feed works fine when I make an update from the RoboMaker, though. But after two hours or so the feed is broken again.

    Re: XML Parsing Error

That's exactly what happens to me too. When the feeds are published from the robo maker work fine in both browsers. And sometimes when I check them, they also work fine. But there are times that some of my feeds show the message of the xml parsing error and this is really bad because I really need these feeds to work!I am glad to here that this is not our fault and that it can be fixed! So when the update will be finished this problem won't exist anymore?

    Re: XML Parsing Error

All, I just pushed a server update with a modification that, I hope, addresses this issue.  It had to do with socket timeouts talking to the RoboServers.  This would sometimes create a cached RSS feed with blank results if the RoboServers didn't run the robot within a specific time windows.

Please monitor and let me know if you see this issue occur.  Thank you.

    Improvement

I´ve monitored my RSS feeds today. In the beginning they were the same - sometimes on, sometimes off - but now I´m beginning to see improvements - they seem much more stabile. :)

I will give an update tomorrow to if this is lasting.

    Re: Improvement

Thanks, I noticed the same thing.  The cache needed flushing after the server push which occurred about 3 hours after that message.  Please let me know what you find out.  Thanks.

    Re: Improvement

Although the situation seems a little bit better, sometimes I continue to have the same problem with my feeds. I hope this is a temporary issue that will stop by your update!

    Re: Improvement

I updatet my robots yesterday, and since then my feeds have been generated without this xml error. Maybe you could try to update them.
