    Re: Improvement

Unfortunately, my rss feeds continue to have problems without warning and I don't know what is the problem?Does anyone else still have problems with his feeds?

    Re: Improvement

I checked out your feeds and indeed it seems the problem persists, though maybe somewhat less as since I put the new code in place, I hadn't seen a response.

I've made a configuration change just minutes ago.  So please let me know if the problem occurs again.

    The problems continue

Hi. I checked my site today, and none of my robot RSS worked (I have four robots). It´s very sad because my site depends on them.
Do you Chris_C know what´s going on?

    Re: The problems continue

It seems the server got into a state where it stopped responding which is very rare.  That has been addressed.

Has the issue with blank responses cropped up for you lately?

    Re: The problems continue

    Now my robots seem fine.

I have noticed the robots have had a tendency to output blank results lately, yes, but not as much as before. They seem more robust nowadays, even though today and yesterday I have seen a slight unstability. Two days ago I checked the RSS of one my robots, and again it said "No XML element found". Now they´re all fine :)

I am very happy that you manage to address these issues so quickly. It makes me prefer Openkapow as my web scraper.

    Re: Improvement

That is the kind of reason i probably didn't use open Kapow robots. In a profesional environment you can't depend of the availabity of a foreign server. I think you need to release the server (even paying) for have success in this business.

The tool is great, but if you can't warranty the service, you didn't go anywhere. Maybe in the domestic market, but not in the profesional.

     Greetings.

    Re: Improvement

I agree. One should not depend on a foreign server if one runs a professional business.

I use Openkapow as the web scraper on my news website, and very often lately it has ocurred to me that Openkapow´s server
has been unstable *. I hope they fix this very soon, because it´s simply crappy when your RSS doesn´t work. On the other side, I don´t have much money, so what there isn´t many possibilities for me.

Or do you recommend other solutions, like the paid Kapow technologies? Do you have experience with those products?

    * Right now, I tried to publish a new robot, but encounters this problem:

    HTTP Status 500

    type Exception report

    message

description The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.

    exception

javax.servlet.ServletException: Servlet execution threw an exception

    root cause

    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

note The full stack trace of the root cause is available in the Apache Tomcat/5.5.17 logs.

    Re: Improvement

The server has been restarted and is fine now.

On the other issues on this thread.  Using openkapow for business needs is not recommended.  In fact, it is against the terms of service for the site to do so.

Kapow Technologies is an Enterprise Software company with over 150 companies using our software hosted within there own environment.  openkapow was made available for free to perform simple web service development for private use.

Recently, we launched a hosted solution called Kapow OnDemand.  You can think of Kapow OnDemand as a private dedicated openkapow.

openkapow stability issues are something we continually attempt to address, but the issue stems from this basic fact.  It is a realtime application runtime environment.  Those applications (robots) can be coded to do almost anything.  Some users either by accident or intentionally, create robots that cause the server to get in strange states.  It has been difficult to isolate what robots and what aspects of those robots cause these issues as it is pretty much a free-for-all here.

    Thanks.

    Re: Improvement

Maybe i was interested on kapow on demand, but i can't see anywhere for what price. I ask for a serial on the not open kapow trial but i think it takes some time. I hope the kapow on demand works right.
